Una relación consolidada y fortalecida entre Fincantieri y NCL

Fincantieri has formalized the agreement with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings ( NCLH ) for the construction of four new cruise ships for the Norwegian Cruise Line ( NCL ) brand. This contract, initially announced on April 8, 2024 as a Letter of Intent, has been transformed into a firm order, subject to financing and other terms and conditions customary in the industry.

The largest cruise ships in NCL history

The new vessels will have a gross tonnage of approximately 226,000 tons, making them the largest ever built for NCL. With a capacity of over 5,100 berths, they will be able to accommodate more than 8,300 people, including crew. The vessels will be assembled at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. The first unit is expected to be delivered in 2030, with subsequent units due in 2032, 2034 and 2036.

These new ships have been designed to the highest standards of technology and comfort, while incorporating innovations in sustainability. Fincantieri and NCLH have worked together to develop solutions that reduce the environmental impact of cruises , in line with the growing ecological regulations of the sector.

The order for these four new cruise ships underscores the continued growth of the cruise industry and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ confidence in Fincantieri’s ability to deliver state-of-the-art vessels.

A consolidated relationship between Fincantieri and NCL

This agreement strengthens the relationship between the two companies. In the past, the Italian company has previously built two ships for NCL, the Norwegian Prima and the Norwegian Viva , and is in the process of delivering the Norwegian Aqua , the first unit of the Prima Plus class. Currently, there are three more units in various stages of design and construction, thus consolidating the strategic collaboration between the two companies in the luxury cruise segment.
