FBR finaliza programa con robots de construcción

FBR Limited has made a significant breakthrough in construction automation by successfully completing its Demonstration Programme in Florida, USA, in collaboration with CRH Ventures. The Australian company, a pioneer in construction robot technology, has demonstrated that its Hadrian X robot is capable of constructing the external walls of homes quickly and efficiently, using concrete blocks supplied by a CRH subsidiary, with one home completed in just one day with just three people on site.

FBR construction robots meet their goals in the US

This Demonstration Program, which spanned 45 calendar days, aimed to verify the viability of FBR’s automated construction technology under real-world conditions. The evaluation of the system was carried out with verification by independent structural engineers to ensure that the homes met industry quality and safety standards.

Following the successful completion of all nine homes and the achievement of all established objectives, FBR and CRH Ventures concluded that the capabilities of the Hadrian X® were sufficiently demonstrated.

FBR and CRH Ventures launch joint venture to transform

With the success of the program, the two companies have agreed to enter into an exclusive joint venture in the United States, through which FBR will provide its advanced technology to manufacture homes faster and more economically. CRH Ventures, the innovation arm of CRH plc, a global leader in building materials, has the option to acquire up to 20 Hadrian X robots in a conditional purchase order for US$40 million.

The agreement also provides for additional units to be delivered in tranches, depending on agreed performance advancements, with the potential for a fleet of 300 robot units in the US, which could transform the construction industry globally.

The path to a new era of construction

The initial investment of US$500,000 by CRH Ventures, as well as deposits for the first units, underscores both parties’ confidence in the potential of automation to change the way homes are built in the U.S. market. In addition, FBR’s robotic technology will enable builders to reduce costs and lead times for each project , opening up new opportunities for growth in the sector.

This development highlights how the collaboration between FBR and CRH Ventures is designed to propel construction technology to new heights, accelerating the transition to a future where automation and technological innovation are key to urban development and home construction.
