The Everdrone company has presented its versatile E2 drone designed to assist rescue teams.

It is an autonomous all-terrain drone that has the ability to be deployed within 15 seconds from the activation of the alarm . It has a cruising speed of 23 m/s and an operating range of 8 km. It has an integrated “advanced camera system” that includes RGB, infrared and 10x zoom, allowing live transmission in both infrared and high resolution to provide detailed information to rescue teams.

According to Everdrone, its drone delivery service is “designed to operate in virtually all areas of Europe, with a potential reach covering more than 99% of Europe’s urban population.” The Everdrone E2 system is expected to be operational starting in the second quarter of 2024.

During trials supported by the Swedish Heart and Lung Foundation and carried out in 2020 by the Karolinska Institute in partnership with SOS Alarm, Västra Götaland Region and Everdrone, drones with defibrillators were dispatched to people experiencing cardiac arrest outside the environment hospital, coinciding with the arrival of an ambulance.

Of the 12 deployments during the pilot phase, only one did not reach its destination, seven arrived before the ground personnel and the drones covered an average distance of 3.1 km.

Later, at the end of 2021, the system proved its effectiveness when a 71-year-old Trollhättan resident suffered cardiac arrest in the driveway of his home. Fortunately, a doctor passing by on his way to work witnessed the emergency and called the authorities. An Everdrone autonomous drone, equipped with an automated external defibrillator (AED), was quickly deployed, allowing the doctor to save the man’s life before the arrival of an ambulance.

Everdrone’s First on Scene Solutions project, in collaboration with the Västra Götaland region, remains in development and the company has recently expanded its service beyond Sweden in partnership with Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex in the UK.

Now joining the fleet is a versatile drone called the E2, capable of making “direct deliveries of a variety of items, from AEDs to epinephrine pens and bleeding control kits, as well as other essential medical equipment, wherever they are required.” .
