Etermar Energia, the leading Portuguese renewable energy company, has been selected to participate in the massive Baltica 2 offshore wind farm project . This is the company’s first foray into the large-scale offshore wind energy sector, signing an agreement with Ørsted, the Danish renewable energy giant, and PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, the leading energy supplier in Poland.
The contract includes the manufacture and supply of more than 100 foundation structures for the wind turbines at the Baltica 2 wind farm , a 1.5 GW project. Located in the Baltic Sea, the farm is expected to supply clean energy to around 2.5 million homes in Europe, significantly contributing to the region’s energy transition.
A significant step for Etermar Energia
This agreement for the Baltica 2 wind farm marks a significant milestone for Etermar, which is consolidating its position as a key player in the offshore wind energy industry. Starting in March, the company will begin delivering the external work platforms, an essential component for the installation of the wind turbine generators.
This contract represents a step forward not only for Etermar, but also for renewable energy in Portugal, demonstrating that local capabilities can compete in international markets.
Environmental impact and sustainable future with Baltica 2
It is estimated that by 2027, the wind farm will be able to reduce CO₂ emissions by 8 million tons annually , reinforcing the region’s commitment to cleaner and more sustainable energy.
This advance by Etermar in the offshore sector underscores the importance of international collaboration in renewable energy projects. It also highlights the growth potential of the offshore wind industry in Europe, where significant investments are being made to achieve the continent’s climate goals.
