Company to supply equipment for Aramco’s MGS project

Baker Hughes has been selected to supply essential components in the final stage of Aramco’s ambitious MGS project . This new agreement includes the delivery of 17 centrifugal compressors driven by aeroderivative gas turbines.

Aramco’s MGS project

This third phase of the Master Gas System (MGS) project is designed to extend a 4,000 km gas pipeline, with the aim of strengthening the national gas distribution network and contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions and oil use in Saudi Saudi.

The award of this contract follows the successful installation of 18 centrifugal compressors by Baker Hughes during the first two phases of the MGS project. Additionally, to meet the growing demand, the company is expanding its production facilities in Modon, Saudi Arabia.

It is anticipated that this development will double the site’s workforce capacity and enhance the company’s ability to locally provide tailored packaging and testing solutions for projects such as the third phase of the MGS.

Lorenzo Simonelli, president and CEO of Baker Hughes, highlighted the company’s strong relationship with Aramco, highlighting more than three decades of collaboration in the natural gas sector. “We are proud to strengthen our partnership with Aramco, contributing to the energy transition and providing technologies that improve the efficiency of the use of natural gas throughout the country.,” Simonelli stated.

Other projects

Recently, Baker Hughes also announced an agreement to provide technology for the Cedar LNG project. This contract includes the supply of major equipment for the liquefaction facility that will operate on renewable electricity, located in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada, a joint initiative between the Haisla Nation and Pembina Pipeline.
