Meta plans to maintain net-zero emissions operations and will purchase all of the energy output from the Sypert Branch solar project . This agreement expands Meta’s renewable energy procurement capacity to over 12 GW and underscores its ongoing commitment to transitioning to clean, sustainable energy sources.

The Sypert Branch solar project , located approximately 70 miles northeast of Austin and near Meta’s data center in Temple, will employ more than 300 workers during construction, generating a positive economic impact on the region.

Additionally, this project is expected to contribute more than $69 million in tax revenue over its lifetime, benefiting local communities and especially supporting area school districts with approximately $45 million.

“We are proud to partner with Meta to provide renewable energy to support their growth and contribute to their net zero goals. This agreement reinforces ENGIE’s position as a leader in the energy transition and underlines our ability to develop, build and operate renewable assets.”

Dave Carroll, Senior Vice President and Director of Renewables at ENGIE North America.

For his part, Urvi Parekh, Director of Clean Energy at Meta, commented: “We are delighted to collaborate with ENGIE to make the transition to clean energy a reality. Our partnership is an example of how we continue to drive renewable energy to keep our global operations net-zero. ”.

With this partnership, ENGIE North America is moving closer to closing nearly 1 GW of signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) in the U.S. by 2024. ENGIE’s innovation and leadership in the renewable energy sector have earned it recognition as one of the leading developers of corporate PPAs globally.
