Innovative companies Enervate and Sealence will combine their technologies to collaborate on the development of a high-performance battery for jet boat propulsion, Business Wire reports.
Sealence designed an ultra-efficient electric propulsion system called DeepSpeed, which runs quietly and reduces boat vibrations. DeepSpeed electric drives can generate between 250 and 1,300 horsepower.
This propulsion system requires high-performance batteries, similar to one that Enevate makes for cars. Those batteries have high energy density, high discharge rates, long lifespan and extremely fast charging capability. In addition, Enevate’s technology makes it possible to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from battery manufacturing by up to 26%.
Enevate and Sealence engineers plan to work together to jointly design a new battery prototype. “The combination of Enevate’s silicon anode battery technology and Sealence’s revolutionary ultra-efficient propulsion design can significantly accelerate the energy transition in many segments of the shipping industry,” Sealence’s founder and CEO told Business Wire. , William Gobo.
