According to the leader of the Colombian oil company, these initiatives are part of the Science, Technology and Innovation strategy of the Ecopetrol Group.

The Toyota Mirai vehicle, which will be delivered to Ecopetrol as a loan, will be used in the facilities of the state oil company and in the Cartagena Refinery where the performance of hydrogen as fuel, efficiency and autonomy, among other variables, will be evaluated.

The main objectives of the test are to make a technical evaluation of the energy behavior, analyze the mobility business with hydrogen that allows the expansion of this application in the country and study the import model of charging equipment for this energy.

The fuel for the vehicle (green hydrogen) will be produced at the Caribbean Innovation and Technology Center with a 50 Kw electrolyser and solar panels, where there will be a dual recharging system for buses and cars. Daily production will be 20 kilograms of high purity green hydrogen (99.999%).
