Eco Wave Power Global AB, a leader in onshore wave energy technology, is marking a significant breakthrough in its pioneering project in Porto, Portugal. Alliance for wave energy project
The project, supported by a 20 MW concession contract with APDL (Administração dos Portos do Douro, Leixões e Viana do Castelo), will use patented wave energy technology to convert ocean waves into sustainable electricity . It will also include an underwater educational centre in “The Gallery” hall, located beneath the breakwater that will house the conversion equipment.
Portugal aims to generate 85% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030 , and this initiative is a key contribution to that goal. The project will reduce the port’s carbon footprint , create jobs and consolidate Portugal’s position as a leader in clean energy .
The company is expanding its footprint with projects under development in Taiwan and the Port of Los Angeles, while exploring new opportunities in international markets. According to Inna Braverman, CEO of Eco Wave Power, this collaboration ensures compliance with the highest standards of safety and operation, taking wave energy to a new level of commercialization.
