Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has selected Dürr to equip its first passenger car plant in Europe , located in Szeged, Hungary. This project marks a milestone for both companies, consolidating their commitment to innovation and sustainability in the automotive industry .
Dürr and its advanced technology for the BYD plant in Europe
Dürr will supply more than 120 painting and handling robots , equipped with the advanced EcoBell3 system. This technology ensures uniform application, reducing paint and solvent consumption . In addition, the Eco Supply P system , with pigging technology, optimises material handling, returning surplus materials to the container without residue, minimising the need for cleaning and protecting the environment.
The plant will feature six- and seven-axis robots from the Eco RP series. While the six-axis robots handle exterior painting, the seven-axis robots provide precision in hard-to-reach interior areas . This flexibility is complemented by equipment that opens doors and covers to ensure an efficient process.
Commitment to sustainability
In addition to technological efficiency, BYD and Dürr are also distinguished by their environmental commitment. The robots will also automatically clean the bodies , removing particles before painting, ensuring impeccable quality in the electric vehicles produced in this new plant.
With this collaboration, BYD strengthens its position as a leader in sustainable mobility and advanced technology, while Dürr consolidates its role as a key supplier of automation and energy efficiency solutions.
