The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, spoke about the future of hydrocarbon exploitation and exploration contracts in the country, including natural gas, and gave details of the process he is carrying out to export clean energy.
“It is not that the current exploitation contracts, which consist of extracting the raw material, and exploration, which consist of seeking more, are suspended. Those are still in force,” said the Head of State.
President Petro explained that, thanks to the work that has been carried out during these months, Colombia has achieved that gas reserves already reach, for internal consumption, until the period between 2037 and 2042.
In turn, the president emphasized that “we have enough time for internal consumption to make a planned, orderly transition; a transition that will take us towards a superior economy”.
The president of Colombia indicated that, currently, alliances are being built so that the country is an important exporter of clean energy, which would allow the growth of the national economy. Likewise, he stated that work is being done so that Ecopetrol is one of the largest exporters of green hydrogen in the short term and not in the long term.
