China has revealed images and videos of its latest advancement in military drone technology, which many experts identify as the CH-7 Long-Endurance Drone . This unmanned aerial vehicle ( UCAV ) shows an expanded design and notable improvements over previous versions.
The new technology of the CH-7 drone
Videos posted on Chinese state media have captured the drone on an undisclosed landing strip, equipped with a low-signature engine for stealth operations. Although it has not yet been seen flying, the CH-7 appears to be close to completing its testing. One of its strong points is the turbofan engine with dorsal air intake and its internal cargo bay, with high-tech sensors.
Developed by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), the drone is believed to be used for long-duration ISR missions, with capabilities to enter enemy airspace and gather vital intelligence. It is also possible that it could take on offensive roles.
