The Royal Government of Cambodia approved five renewable energy projects that will make it possible to increase electricity supply to the national grid and help reduce carbon dioxide emissions, according to media reports.
Together these plans will provide a capacity of 520 MW which, in addition to increasing energy supply, will generate an estimated tax revenue of more than 322 million US dollars.
That figure, detailed the Khmer Times newspaper, excludes other tax collections such as payroll tax and withholding taxes, among others.
The approved projects include a hydroelectric dam with a capacity of 170 MW and four solar power stations in Pursat (150 MW), Kampong Chhnang (60), Svay Rieng (60) and Prey Veng (80) provinces.
