bp has successfully launched the southwest expansion of Argos, an ambitious project that strengthens its presence in the U.S. Gulf. U.S. Gulf and becomes the first in a series of developments the company plans to execute before 2030.

Argos platform adds new wells, breaks records
The project was completed seven months ahead of schedule, thanks to the implementation of parallel workflows and early contracting decisions. The company envisions this expansion as the first of three key milestones in the U.S. Gulf. According to its plan, the Atlantis Drilling Center 1 expansion will begin in 2026, followed by an intervention at the Atlantis core facility by 2027. In parallel, bp is moving forward with the development of Kaskida, its sixth platform in the area, which is projected to come online in 2029.
Projection to strengthen the upstream business
With a 60.5% operating interest in Argos, bp leads a consortium that includes Woodside Energy (23.9%) and a subsidiary of Chevron (15.6%).
The goal for 2030 is to reach a combined production of 400,000 boe/d in the Gulf, cementing its role as one of the country’s leading offshore producers.
