Bolivia will invest almost $50 million in the Río Miguillas Hydroelectric Power Plant

The Government of Bolivia, through the National Electricity Company (ENDE), plans to invest approximately $50 million this year in the construction of the Río Miguillas Hydroelectric Power Plant, located in the municipalities of Quime and Cajuata, province of Inquisivi, La Paz. This was announced by the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energies, Franklin Molina Ortiz.

Within the framework of the anniversary of La Paz, the minister highlighted that until June of this year, the project has reached a physical progress of 41.39% and it is expected that its completion and start-up will take place in the second half of 2025 . This hydroelectric plant will contribute 204.88 megawatts to the National Interconnected System (SIN).

Other projects besides the hydroelectric power station

In addition, Molina pointed out that other projects are currently being carried out, such as the construction of substations, overhead lines, underground lines, among others, with a total investment of almost $41 million that will benefit families from La Paz.

Likewise, it is planned to inaugurate the Electrification Project of the Santiago de Lacaya Urbanization, which will provide electric power service to future users. This project is located in the Murillo province, La Paz municipality, in the Chuquiaguillo – Periférica area, in the Santiago de Lacaya Urbanization.

Similarly, the delivery of the 115 kV Kenko Line Bahía Project is scheduled, located in the facilities of the current Viacha Substation, and executed by the distribution company DELAPAZ. This work will benefit the users of Viacha, El Alto and La Paz.

It is also planned to inaugurate the Viliroco 115/12.6 kV Substation Construction Project, located in the Ingavi province, Viacha Municipality, with an investment of $3 million. Both projects (Bahía and Viliroco) will guarantee electrical service for more than 141,000 homes in La Paz. In addition, the Rural Electrification Construction Project will benefit approximately 30 communities.
