Bitso, the cryptocurrency platform in Latin America with more than 5 million users, and Utel, the online university in the region with more than 115 thousand students and graduates in more than 60 countries, announced an alliance to enable payment with cryptocurrencies to its students from at least 11 countries, including Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, the United States, Mexico, Panama and Peru.
According to an analysis by Tech Jury, the global e-learning market is projected to be worth US$325 billion by 2025. Also, the ease of online payments improves the experience of students and universities, because in just a few moments and with a few clicks, the fees are paid and the universities receive the payment.
Through the alliance with Bitso, Utel Universidad enables more modalities to learn, interact and run its own economy to its large community distributed throughout the world. Bitso will function as the platform that will make it possible to enable cryptocurrency payments through its infrastructure.
“One of the main challenges of adopting cryptocurrencies is making this technology accessible to everyone, and education is one of the greatest enablers to achieve it,” said Ana Berón, Manager of Corporate Affairs and ESG at Bitso.
“It fills us with joy to continue opening doors, in this case together with Utel University, so that more people can access educational options using crypto as a means of payment and thus contribute to financial inclusion and technological development in Latin America,” he added.
