El éxito del eVTOL pilotado

The Beta Technologies company has managed to materialize the development of the electric Alia-250 aircraft and successfully complete the first flight transition with a piloted electric vertical take-off and landing vehicle eVTOL.

The electric Alia-250 aircraft

This progress was documented at the Vermont headquarters, a video demonstrating hovering to transitional flight , with a pilot on board. The company has also been a reference in the eVTOL space since 2020, for its practical approach in testing and development .

Beta has deployed its Alia-250 aircraft, inspired by the aerodynamics of the Arctic tern, at a test event at Plattsburgh International Airport, New York. The aircraft has a wingspan of 15 meters and an electric propulsion system powered by high-density lithium batteries , making a fluid transition from hovering flight to winged flight, before returning to its original state for landing.

The success of piloted eVTOL

The success of this test reinforces Beta ‘s experience in the eVTOL sector, and highlights the functional development of these aircraft, being the first of its kind to achieve this with a pilot. This achievement could accelerate progress toward FAA certification of the Alia-250, expected in 2026, with plans to offer both air taxi and cargo versions.
