New strategic partnership to implement AI in maritime operations with CMA CGM and Google

CMA CGM, a recognized global leader in maritime and logistics solutions, together with Google, unveiled a strategic partnership aimed at promoting the integration of AI in global maritime operations. This collaboration focuses on leveraging Google’ s advanced AI solutions and the specialized knowledge of both teams to strengthen the decision-making capabilities of employees at CMA CGM.

Through this partnership, the aim is to radically transform the shipping industry by maritime transportationsignificantly improving efficiency, responsiveness and adaptability in the face of market changes and challenges. This joint effort will facilitate the optimization of maritime routes, container management and inventory control, seeking to improve the timeliness and efficiency of cargo delivery, as well as reduce costs and associated carbon emissions.

For its part, CEVA Logistics, the logistics division of CMA CGM, will initially focus on improving the management of its extensive warehousing facilities, employing intelligent tools based on Google AI to optimize demand forecasting and volume operations. In parallel, CMA Media will benefit from Google’s AI expertise to strengthen the capabilities of its journalists through tools that facilitate content synthesis and translation, as well as digital archive management.

This partnership also provides for the implementation of training programs at TANGRAM, CMA CGM’s center of excellence for innovation and learning, benefiting all of the group’s employees. This initiative is part of a broader effort by CMA CGM to lead the digital transformation in transportation and logistics, following earlier investments in AI technologies and the opening of its science lab, Kyutai.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, reiterated the potential of AI to improve CMA CGM’s operations and revolutionize the industry, benefiting both employees and customers.
