Enarsa tendered for the purchase of the Liquefied Natural Gas vessels and Cammesa acquired the diesel oil shipments to reinforce the provision for electricity generation.

The state company Enarsa (former IEASA) formalized this week a new tender to import another 13 shipments of Liquefied Natural Gas to reinforce the supply of fluid for the winter months.

The 13 ships with LNG should arrive in the country in August. While Cammesa bought another five shipments of diesel that are added to the eight that it had already acquired for the month of July. The acquisition comes after sanctions imposed on Russia caused a reconfiguration of global energy flows.

According to the schedule included by the state company, the vast majority of the ships will arrive in the country during the month of August, and only one is expected to arrive on July 20, to complement the gas supply for that month.

Enarsa tendered nine LNG shipments for the Escobar gas terminal, with a projection limit of 10 ships per month. Due to a draft problem of the Paraná River, they are smaller loads of about 2.1 million BTUs. While the remaining ships will disembark at the Bahía Blanca terminal, which can receive larger ships (about 3.1 million BTU).

On May 17, Enarsa launched a tender to purchase 13 LNG shipments for the month of July. The prices of that compulsa were around 25 dollars. It is estimated that those in this tender will be located in a similar band. The presentation of economic offers will take place at noon on June 24. The winners will be announced two days later.

Cammesa went out to reinforce the supply of diesel for the park of thermoelectric plants. The company that manages the Wholesale Electricity Market (MEM) tendered the importation of five shipments of diesel oil of 50,000 cubic meters (m3) each that should arrive in Argentina in July.

In line with the lack of diesel in the retail market, the company does not want to have supply problems during July, the month with the highest historical consumption of Natural Gas, which is why power plants tend to operate mainly with liquid fuels such as fuel oil and diesel .
