Within the framework of the Amcham Energy Forum, organized by the United States Chamber of Commerce at the Sheraton Hotel in Argentina, the business manager of the US Embassy in Buenos Aires, Abigail Dressel, revealed that Washington considers that Argentina will become one of the 20 largest energy exporters in the next 10 years.
During the energy meeting, officials, governors and businessmen spoke about the country’s potential in Vaca Muerta, lithium, offshore, green hydrogen and renewable energy.
Dressel, chargé d’affaires at the US embassy, said the conference was “particularly timely” given the international situation. He assured that talking about the energy sector is important in terms of energy transition, but also of national security. “Energy security is national security,” he said from the stage.
“The Biden government achieved unprecedented measures 6 months after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine,” he described, mentioning the largest US oil production. “Within this global context, we feel optimistic about the potential that Argentina has to collaborate with the United States in helping to feed and give energy to the world.” Dressel mentioned that Argentina helps food and energy security, by having “the second largest unconventional gas reserves in the world and the fourth largest in oil,” he added.
