Saudi Arabia has unveiled the discovery of seven new natural gas and oil fields to strengthen its energy diversification strategy. Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman reported that these discoveries were made by state-owned Aramco in the eastern and southeastern regions of the country.

New oil and gas fields

Aramco identified two unconventional oil fields, one Arabian light oil well, two natural gas fields and two natural gas sources from the same well. The unconventional oil fields were found in the ‘Ladam-2’ and ‘Al Faruk-4’ wells, located in the eastern region of the kingdom, with production capacities of 5,100 and 4,557 barrels per day of oil respectively, in addition to 4.9 and 3.79 million cubic feet per day of gas.

In the ‘Mazaliy-62’ well, light oil reserves were found, with a production of 1,780 barrels per day and 0.7 million cubic feet per day of gas. This discovery underscores the the wealth of natural resources in the eastern region of Saudi Arabia.

In the Rub al Jali desert, one of the world’s largest sand deserts, two new sources of natural gas were discovered in the ‘Al Yahaq-1’ well, with daily productions of 5.3 and 1.1 million cubic feet of gas. These findings highlight the energy potential of this remote area.

In addition, other gas extraction points were identified in the ‘Al Katuf-1’ and ‘Asikra-6’ wells, with capacities of 7.6 and 4.9 million cubic feet per day of gas respectively, also located in Rub al Jali. These discoveries confirm the Arab country’s strategy to strengthen its oil and gas production.
