Merlín Cochran, general director of the Mexican Association of Hydrocarbons Companies (Amexhi), during his participation in the presentation of the book La Energia de un Pueblo, pointed out that the oil industry is consolidating its recovery, so the delays that have occurred in the pandemic are now disappearing.
Likewise, he ruled out that there is a brake on investments by companies in the energy sector and, on the contrary, assured that next year the start-up of oil projects is expected.
“There is no brake (currently), because when there was and the CNH itself reflected it with its extensions that it gave to the companies, it was during the Covid-19 stage, there were 13 months of extensions. But now approved investments have been on the rise,” Cochran explained.
Recently, information agencies pointed out that the oil company BP could stop its activities within the upstream sector in Mexico. In this sense, he said that, although there have been extensions and delays in investments, such as what happened with the Zama mega deposit, the situation will improve in the coming months.
