The Atlantic Marine Energy Centre (AMEC), in collaboration with several renowned universities, recently announced the launch of a series of short marine energy courses that will begin in the summer of 2025. These courses, designed to support research and development in renewable energy, aim to introduce students to the field of ocean energy and marine technology.
Who can apply for the short marine energy courses?
The course is open to students from all disciplines, with those interested in the impact of hydropower and other water-based energy sources encouraged to apply . Participants will have access to quality vocational training that will enable them to be part of the growth of an expanding sector, which is expected to play a key role in the transition to a more sustainable future.
The first course, titled ” Introduction to Marine Energy ,” will be held at the University of New Hampshire between August 3-9, 2025. This summer course is aimed at beginning undergraduate and graduate students, providing a comprehensive overview of tidal energy .
During an intensive week, participants will learn about the theory and practice of renewable energy through lectures, laboratory activities, and a visit to the Shoals Marine Laboratory. Students will have the opportunity to interact with industry experts and gain hands-on experience in the field.
The project is supported by the U.S. Department of Energy ’s Water Power Technologies Office (DOE-WPTO) as part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act. The goal is to foster the development of clean energy technologies and advance energy innovation to address global challenges around sustainability.
