ABS issued an AIP (Approval in Principle) to CLS Wind for its wind turbine mounting system. This patented system, designed as a type of hoist, is intended to simplify and streamline both the installation and maintenance of wind turbines and nacelles.
Unlike traditional methods that require large cranes, which cranes or heavy barges, this innovative method allows these tasks to be performed more safely and quickly.
ABS issued an AIP to CLS Wind to boost offshore wind energy in the US.
In this process, ABS has conducted a thorough design review, taking into account both class and legal requirements. Rob Langford, ABS vice president for global offshore renewables, said, “This achievement represents a significant step forward for CLS Wind and the U.S. renewable energy industry. ABS is dedicated to supporting the development of offshore wind in the U.S. by working closely with our partners throughout the life cycle of their projects.”
For his part, Kent A. Johnson, CEO of CLS Wind, commented: “As a U.S. company committed to an innovative solution to some of the most critical challenges in the offshore wind market, we greatly value the support from ABS during the AIP process process and the visit to our industrial demonstration unit. In the renewable energy sector, collaboration is essential to finding solutions that reduce costs and increase installation efficiency, and we are excited to work with ABS on this technology.”
Finally, ABS is positioned as a key partner in the field of offshore wind energy. offshore wind energyABS is a key partner in the offshore wind energy field, offering consulting and technical review services that contribute to minimize risks and improve safety in offshore wind projects.
