Geological Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, and Chemical Engineering majors at Vietnam Petroleum University (PVU) achieved ABET accreditation from the United States until September 30, 2028.
With this result, PVU became the first university in Vietnam whose petroleum teaching programs are recognized by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) of the United States, for six years. ABET’s recognition affirms the quality of education and human resource development of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN).
ABET accreditation guarantees that an academic program at a higher education institution meets the quality standards established for the basic sciences, computer science, engineering, and technology professions. One of the benefits of this accreditation is that it makes it easier for graduates to obtain a professional engineering license in the US.
PVU is located in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, which is the operation and logistics center for oil search, exploration and exploitation activities on the continental shelf.
To date, there are 35 universities specializing in chemical and petroleum engineering in Asia that meet ABET standards.
