The 39th World Congress of the International Association for Hydro-Environmental Engineering and Research (IAHR) will be held at the Palacio de Congresos in Granada, Spain, from June 19 to 24, 2022, bringing together world experts in science, engineering and water management to help address the world’s most pressing water challenges.
The organizers of the Congress are the International Association of Hydro-Environmental Engineering and Research (IAHR) and the University of Granada, together with the General Directorates of Water and the Coast and the Sea of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, the Center for Studies and Experimentation of Public Works (CEDEX), which constitute Spain Water, and the institution China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR).
Under the motto “From the snow to the sea”, the Congress will emphasize the importance of integrated and intelligent management of water and land in order to provide satisfactory answers to the current global challenges marked by the 2030 Agenda, as well as to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
For more than seventy-five years, the IAHR’s biennial World Congresses have brought together leading experts to help address the world’s pressing water environmental engineering challenges. The event has traditionally provided researchers and decision-makers with the opportunity to share recent advances and experiences, identify emerging technology trends, and engage in lively debates that have had a positive impact worldwide.
Among the featured conferences will be: Nadia Pinardi from the UN Ocean Science Decade, Bologna University, Italy with the presentation: “Coastal Resilience in a changing climate”, Teodoro Estrela Monreal, General Director for Water, Spain with the conference: “Water Challenges in Spain” and Steven L. Brunton, University of Washington, USA, who will give the conference: “Machine Learning for Scientific Discovery, with Examples in Fluid Mechanics”.
