The companies Plenitude and Methagora have formalized a biomethane purchase agreement that will run for fifteen years. This agreement includes the annual supply of 50 GWh of clean energy sourced from French agricultural areas and represents strong support for decarbonizing France’s gas system.

The collaboration is governed by France’s Climate and Resilience Law through the system of Biomethane Production Certificates (BPC). This regulation encourages suppliers to inject organically sourced gas into the national grid.

Likewise, the contract structure allows agricultural producers to secure the investments needed to modernize their facilities, guaranteeing end users access to certified energy of local origin.

Plenitude’s presence supports the management of a portfolio of nearly one million customers in the retail sector. In addition, its infrastructure has 1 GW of installed capacity in renewable sources and continues to expand its electric mobility network.

This new volume of renewable gas is part of a global strategy aimed at exceeding 10 GW of green capacity by 2028 and consolidating its role as a leading player in Europe’s energy transition.

For its part, Methagora has demonstrated exceptional technical capability by converting existing cogeneration plants into advanced injection units. By implementing state-of-the-art purifiers and compressors, the Seya Group company ensures that traditional biogas meets biomethane quality standards.

This methodology accelerates the transition to a more efficient and sustainable energy model, enabling agricultural production to become a key component of industrial and domestic energy supply.
