OKEA ASA Raises Projections for Brage Field Following Geological Maturation

OKEA ASA confirms a key increase in resource estimates for the Talisker West reservoir, strengthening its production potential in the North Sea.

Norwegian company OKEA ASA announced a significant increase in recoverable resource estimates for the Talisker West discovery, located in the Brage field in the North Sea. The new projections raise the P50 volume from 19 to 28 million barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe), strengthening the project’s viability and economic attractiveness.

New Figures Enhance Project Profitability

Thanks to improved subsurface understanding of the Statfjord formation, the combined estimates for the Statfjord and Cook formations have also been revised upward, now ranging between 23 and 44 mmboe. This increase consolidates Talisker West as an efficient, low-cost crude source.

Despite the increase in reserves, the development plan remains unchanged and production is expected to begin in 2027, with a breakeven cost below $10 per barrel. This low profitability threshold has been made possible by the decision to drill and produce directly from the Brage platform, optimizing the use of existing infrastructure.

Technical Details of Location and Drilling

Talisker West is located in the North Sea, approximately 10 kilometers east of the Oseberg field and 120 kilometers west of the city of Bergen. The well was drilled from the Brage platform to a measured depth of 10,223 meters.

OKEA ASA leads the development with a 35.2% stake in license PL 055. It is followed by Lime Petroleum AS with 33.8434%, DNO Norge AS with 14.2567%, Petrolia NOCO AS with 12.2575%, and M Vest Energy AS with 4.4424%.

A Strategic Step in Norwegian Energy Development

The discovery represents a solid commitment to efficient resource development in one of the most mature regions of the European oil industry. OKEA ASA’s approach stands out for its speed of execution, rational use of assets, and high value generation potential.
