The transaction will allow the company to receive US$80 million in cash, while retaining operational access to the unit through an initial 12-month lease, with an option to extend for an additional period.

Financial model adopted for the Jasmine Alpha platform

Likewise, the sale and leaseback model adopted by BW Energy allows it to monetize a strategic asset without interrupting its offshore operations. This type of arrangement is common in the oil and gas industry to improve liquidity without compromising production.

The company expects to record a book gain on the value of the asset, driven by the revaluation of the platform since its acquisition in 2020, during the depressed pricing environment generated by the pandemic.

Strategy focused on growth

As explained by Thomas Young, CFO of BW Energy, the transaction allows the company to capture value from an acquired asset at a discount while maintaining operational flexibility and future strategic options.

Among these options is the possible conversion of the platform into a production unit, which would expand its use within the company’s development portfolio.

In addition, this type of financing is part of a broader strategy aimed at optimizing invested capital and supporting the goal of tripling production by 2028.

Moreover, the agreement strengthens the existing relationship between BW Energy and MSFL, which already collaborate in the financing of the Maromba Borehole wellhead platform. Maromba B wellhead platform.

The terms of this new transaction are in line with the company’s infrastructure financing strategy, which focuses on flexible and competitive solutions for offshore assets.
