The android Protoclone surprises again by moving his arms in a chilling way

The humanoid has more than 1,000 artificial myofibers capable of generating more than one kilogram of force per three grams of fiber.

Clone Robotics has stunned the world (again) with a new demonstration of its musculoskeletal android, Protoclone . In a recently shared video, the humanoid is seen executing complex movements with a fluidity reminiscent of the human body.

This breakthrough is driven by a unique architecture based on more than 1,000 synthetic myofibers , a natural bone structure, and artificial systems that replicate the muscular, vascular, and nervous systems.

Engineering inspired by the human body

Unlike other humanoid robots, Protoclone doesn’t simply mimic the external shape of the body. Its innovation lies in its internal structure: it is designed with artificial muscles that connect to specific points in the skeleton, faithfully emulating mammalian biomechanics . These fibers respond in less than 50 milliseconds and can contract up to 30% without load, generating more than one kilogram of force for every three grams of mass.

The Protoclone design features over 200 degrees of freedom, including 164 in the upper torso alone . The hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder joints are articulated with unprecedented precision. Even each vertebra has its own range of motion, allowing the android to execute complex movements naturally.

Upcoming improvements for Protoclone

Protoclone currently operates using pneumatic systems, but the company plans to migrate to hydraulic mechanisms to increase power and efficiency.

Protoclone’s “semi-hidden” appearance, suspended and covered by a black mask, generates mixed impressions. Many consider it an impressive technological achievement, while others perceive it as disturbing. However, the general consensus is that we are witnessing a new era in humanoid robotics .

With Protoclone, Clone Robotics not only demonstrates its capacity for innovation, but also its vision of the future: one in which androids are not mere human-shaped machines, but biomechanical entities that interact with our environment as equals.
