ACCIONA Energía has completed the transfer of 626 megawatts of hydroelectric power to Endesa , consolidating its asset optimization strategy. The operation is valued at approximately 1 billion euros and has received all the necessary regulatory authorizations.
Hydroelectric generation and its energy potential
The agreement includes the transfer of 34 hydroelectric plants located in Aragon, Soria, Valencia and Navarre. These facilities have an average concession life of 30 years and are divided into three types of plants: reservoir source ( 56% ), flow (30%) and pumping (14%). Together, these infrastructures generate an estimated annual production of 1.3 TWh.
The divestment is part of ACCIONA Energía ‘s asset rotation strategy, which seeks to strengthen its renewable energy portfolio with a more flexible and profitable approach. The Spanish company has highlighted the strength of its hydroelectric capacities and the importance of this transaction in its growth plan.
For Endesa , the acquisition represents a step in its expansion into the renewable energy sector. The Spanish power company, a subsidiary of Enel , continues to strengthen its presence in the sustainable market and increase its hydroelectric generation capacity.
