From Villahermosa, Mexico, during the IMCORRS 2023 conference, Francesco Solari CEO of Inspenet , had the opportunity to talk with Romer Gil, Senior Manager of AMPP Global , during the third Imcorrs Mexico Seminar.
The mission of AMPP, a global association of professionals, is twofold: technical and social. Its primary objective is to combat corrosion in order to prevent potential damage to the environment and society as a whole. For Romer, this mission transcends the professional sphere, having a direct impact on the common good.
This association was born from the merger of the SSPC and NACE organizations, becoming an industry giant. Romer’s vision for Latin America is optimistic and on the rise. The region is experiencing significant growth within the organization, not only in terms of regional chapters, but also in the involvement of young professionals and university students.
The inclusion of young professionals was a focus that was highlighted, the active participation of the local university and a competition was held to select the best thesis at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
AMPP Perspectives
Looking ahead, AMPP has a strategic plan that extends to 2025. Without going into specifics, Romer emphasized the importance of offering valuable experiences to its members and being recognized for their contribution to the sector. He also mentioned constant innovation in educational programs and certifications, with new courses aimed at surface protection craftsmen and programs such as “ Emerge ” for university students.
Concluding the interview, Romer extended an invitation to those who are not yet part of the association to join in its global and local mission.
