Petrobras has taken an important step by starting production on the Maria Quitéria FPSO , a floating platform located in the Jubarte field, within the pre-salt zone of the Campos Basin, Espírito Santo. The platform, whose operation was initially planned for 2025, was brought forward thanks to the technological advances implemented in the company.

The FPSO has a daily production capacity of up to 100,000 barrels of oil and can process up to 5 million cubic meters of gas. To achieve this goal, the unit will be connected to eight producing wells and eight injection wells. Petrobras, which holds exclusive production rights in the Jubarte field , highlights that this platform will improve operational efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 24%, thanks to its cutting-edge technology.

FPSO Maria Quitéria strengthens Petrobras production

The Maria Quitéria is one of the largest platforms in the world, with a length of 333 meters and a height of 156 meters . It is installed at a depth of 1,385 meters and, in addition to its crude oil production capacity, generates 100 MW of energy, enough to supply a city of more than 200,000 inhabitants. This energy power underlines Petrobras’ commitment to innovation and sustainability.

The Jubarte field is part of the area known as Parque das Baleias, which includes other fields such as Baleia Anã and Cachalote. This project is key to Petrobras’ strategy, which in 2019 extended the concession of the area until 2056. With the entry into operation of the Maria Quitéria FPSO, this platform is expected to contribute 40% of the field’s total production , further consolidating Petrobras’ presence in Brazil’s pre-salt fields .

Currently, three more platforms are active in this area: P-57, P-58 and FPSO Cidade de Anchieta. The addition of the FPSO Maria Quitéria strengthens the company’s operational capacity, ensuring the sustainability of operations and a significant increase in hydrocarbon production in the coming years.
