Solaris has secured a new contract to supply 26 state-of-the-art hydrogen buses to public transport operator REVG Kerpen, located in the city of Kerpen, Germany. This order includes the Urbino 12 hydrogen models, and will be completed in 2025, establishing the beginning of a collaboration between Solaris and REVG Kerpen.

Solaris Deutschland CEO Christian Goll expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the importance of bringing the advanced hydrogen buses to Kerpen. In addition, Goll noted that REVG’s decision to select these environmentally friendly vehicles reaffirms its commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.“Together, we are on a journey toward a greener future,” Goll said.
The Urbino hydrogen buses will be equipped with 70 kW fuel cells that generate electricity on board, driving central electric motors. In addition, they will feature Solaris High Power batteries, designed to withstand energy demands during peak consumption, ensuring efficient and reliable performance in various operating conditions.
The growing interest in Europe in hydrogen technology hydrogen technologytechnology, especially for zero-emission transport, is now increasingly palpable. Solaris remains at the forefront of this trend, consolidating its position as the largest hydrogen bus manufacturer on the continent, with a 44.5% market share by 2023. The German market, in particular, is showing strong support for the adoption of hydrogen buses, with multiple cities using Solaris vehicles.

Solaris’ Urbino hydrogen buses are operational in cities such as Cologne, Wuppertal, Hofolding, Weimar, Frankfurt, Gross-Zimmern, Aschaffenburg and in the Munich metropolitan area. In addition, the company is expanding its presence in other locations, with contracts recently signed in Krefeld, Güstrow, Gross-Gerau, Hamburg, Gummersbach and Duisburg, strengthening its position in the German market.
