The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has assured that the official inauguration of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline project, with an estimated cost of 2.8 billion dollars, will take place in December 2023. This statement comes after the project failed to meet the completion date initially set for 2022.
Oritsemiyiwa Eyesan, Executive Vice President of NNPC Limited, expressed this assurance during the 41st exhibition of the Nigerian Petroleum Explorers Association. Addressing the topic “Energy Infrastructure Development, Financing and Monetization Strategies in Nigeria: Reducing Entry Risks”, Eyesan highlighted NNPC’s commitment to the Nigerian Gas Master Plan.
Eyesan expressed: “In the coming months, you will see a big difference in the way we operate because NNPC is set to drive more investments in the oil and gas sector. One of those important investments is the AKK gas pipeline, which will enter service in December”.
The Minister of State for Gas, Ekperikpe Ekpo, highlighted the significance of concluding the AKK project last month. In July 2020, NNPC Limited began construction of the 614 km Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline to transport natural gas from the south to central Nigeria.
