Last Sunday, the Saudi state oil company Aramco revealed the identification of two natural gas fields called Al Hiran Y Al Mahakik, located in the southeastern region known as the Empty Quarter, which covers areas of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen and Oman, according to Saudi Energy Minister Abdelaziz bin Salmán.

According to the minister, in addition to these two natural gas fields, the state oil company also discovered five other deposits of this resource in previously explored areas. The discovery in Al Hiran materialized by registering a flow of natural gas from the Hanifa field at a rate of 30 million cubic feet and 1,600 barrels of condensate per day. Likewise, a flow of 3.1 million cubic feet of natural gas was observed from the Al Arab field, in the same area.

As for Al Mahakik, the minister reported that a flow of 0.85 million cubic feet of natural gas has been recorded. This addition joins the discovery of natural gas in five other previously explored fields in the southeastern region of Saudi Arabia. These include the Jallah, Shadoun, Mazalij, Al Sarah and Atwad fields, where natural gas flows of 46, 15.5, 14, 11.7 and 5.1 million cubic feet were recorded, respectively.
