From Houston, Texas during the ASNT 2023 annual conference, Richard Blaser from Inspenet had the pleasure of interviewing Tobias Hötzer, Application Engineer at Xarion Laser Acoustics Gmbh. His booth showcased technologies that promise to change the way we understand ultrasonic inspections.
Ultrasonic Non-Contact Technology
“What you see here is our non-contact ultrasonic testing system” Tobias explained to us. Xarion uses a laser to guide ultrasound and an optical microphone as a detector. “The setup is completely contact-free, which allows us to easily automate this inspection procedure” he emphasized.
Versatile applications
“We use it primarily for aerospace composite inspections, but we also adapt it for other applications, ensuring high-quality inspections” Tobias noted.
Integration and Robotization
Although they specialize in probes and acquisition software, its focus is on integration into production systems. “We work with specialized integrators to incorporate robotics into the process” he shared with us.
Data Interpretation
Tobias showed us a CSCAN scan of a reference panel. “Through this tool, we can identify lamination defects with incredibly high resolution” he observed.
Global Presence
They based in Vienna, Austria, has succeeded in establishing strategic partnerships around the world. “In the United States, we work closely with Omni NDE” Tobias mentioned.
