From Houston, Texas during the ASNT 2023 annual conference, Richard Blaser from Inspenet had the pleasure of interviewing Mark Mazaraki, the U.S. Country Manager for CRYSOUND, the company behind this gas leak detection innovation.
A Unique Leak Detection Technology
“We use microphones to detect gas leaks” Mark explained. What sets CRYSOUND apart from others is its ability to detect any type of gas on the planet, including gases that other technologies cannot, such as nitrogen, helium, and hydrogen.
This detection is accomplished by a series of microphones that listen for the gas leak, triangulate its location, and then overlay that information on a video. Mark even demonstrated the effectiveness of this technology with a live simulation.
Simplicity and Accuracy
One of the big attractions of this technology is its ease of use. “It’s as simple as turn it on, hold it and point it” Mark said. He emphasized that no special training is required and it is highly intuitive.
