From Houston, Texas during the ASNT 2023 annual conference, Richard Blaser from Inspenet had the pleasure of interviewing Chinlee Wang, President and CEO of X-Scan Imaging Corporation, a California-based leader in X-ray detection technology.
Innovation from California
“At X-Scan, we manufacture X-ray detectors, specifically line-scan detectors, line-dial array detectors and time-delay integration detectors” Chinlee shared, providing a concise introduction on his company’s focus.
In addition to serving the U.S. market, X-Scan imaging’s global footprint extends to Europe and East Asia, reaffirming its position in the international X-ray detection landscape.
X-Scan Imaging Corporation Technology at a Glance
During the interview, Chinlee gave a visual tour of some of the company’s devices. He highlighted a line-scan X-ray camera with a carbon fiber window, designed to allow X-rays to enter and create images from moving objects.
“We call it a waterfall because the image cascades down the screen. And if you take a top image of that, you get these kinds of images,” Chinlee explained, showing a PCB image and a sonogram produced in CT mode.
The variety of applications that X-Scan devices can handle is impressive, from high-resolution inspections to X-rays of everyday objects such as cell phones and peanuts.
A Focus on Quality from X-Scan Imaging Corporation
Most notably, all of this equipment is manufactured and assembled in-house in California. “Yes, we do. And it’s manufactured in California,” Chinlee confirmed.
