UK-based mining company Hummingbird Resources has achieved the first gold pour at the Kouroussa mine in Guinea’s prolific Siguiri basin ahead of schedule.<\/p>\n\n

The mine is the company’s second operating gold asset in West Africa. It is said to be a high grade mine with over four grams per tonne (g\/t) in open pit operations.<\/p>\n\n

Kouroussa, Hummingbird’s high-grade mine, is projected for annual production of 120,000 to 140,000 oz of gold<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Commissioned in early May 2023, Kouroussa is expected to have average gold production of 120,000-140,000 oz over the first three years of commercial production.<\/p>\n\n

After that, the mine is expected to have annual production of 100,000oz over an initial mine life of seven years.<\/p>\n\n

Hummingbird CEO Dan Betts said: \u201cAchieving the first gold pour at our second operating mine, Kouroussa in Guinea, is a major strategic milestone for the company, transforming Hummingbird into a multi-asset gold producer. and multiple jurisdictions, which more than doubled our production profile to more than 200,000 ounces per year.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cKouroussa is the second mine that Hummingbird has built on time and on budget, comprised of a construction team of African and predominantly (80%) Guinean personnel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Hummingbird said it is developing detailed exploration plans for Kouroussa to restart exploration drilling plans in the second half of 2023\/2024 to increase current reserves at the mine.<\/p>\n\n

The company also owns the operating Yanfollia gold mine in Mali and a controlling interest in the Dugbe gold project in Liberia.<\/p>\n\n
