Honeywell’s technology is helping make possible the launch of NASA’s Artemis I, as well as other aspects of planned missions that will take astronauts to the Moon and Mars.<\/p>\n\n

Throughout NASA’s Artemis program, Honeywell solutions will play an increasingly important role on the Orion spacecraft and Artemis missions.<\/p>\n\n

Honeywell provides the complete navigation and guidance system for the Artemis I launch vehicle, allowing the spacecraft to know exactly where it is going, stay on course and return to Earth safely.<\/p>\n\n

Honeywell’s technology also helps control the thrust of rockets that travel 73 times faster than Indy 500 cars.<\/p>\n\n

The company will provide 14 types of products for the Artemis III to V manned missions, including hardware and software solutions, to support NASA’s lunar missions. Some of these key technologies are:<\/p>\n\n

Guidance and navigation systems<\/strong> : Key navigation and guidance solutions, including the barometric altimeter, which tracks the altitude of the Orion capsule in Earth’s atmosphere, as well as the inertial measurement system and GPS receiver, which track position and movements of the capsule.<\/p>\n\n

Command Data Management<\/strong> : Various data management products, including the vehicle management computer, which acts as the central computing platform supporting flight and vehicle control and spacecraft communication functions.<\/p>\n\n

Displays and Controls<\/strong> : Three display units, seven control panels, and two hand controllers used inside the spacecraft to help Orion astronauts monitor and control the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n

Core Flight Software<\/strong> : Includes integrated modular avionics software, a key system responsible for supporting maintenance functions that share flight data information.<\/p>\n\n
