Halliburton Company launched NeoCem\u2122 E+ and EnviraCem\u2122 cement barrier systems last week as an expansion of its portfolio of reduced and high performance Portland cement systems.<\/p>\n\n

NeoCem E+ cement contains 50% or more cement reduction by mass, while EnviraCem cement contains 70% or more cement reduction by mass. The reduction of Portland cement in barrier systems helps the user reduce carbon emissions and provides engineered systems with better lining performance.<\/p>\n\n

Halliburton developed the new reduced cement systems to take advantage of synergies between the chemical and physical properties of specialized materials combined with the cement used in zonal isolation. Through an innovative tailoring process, these reduced-cement systems deliver high-performance compressive strength and ductility at a lower density than conventional systems to improve barrier reliability.<\/p>\n\n

The company successfully pumped the first NeoCem E+ cement system for Aker BP in the North Sea. NeoCem E+ cement contains 50 to 70 percent less cement than conventional designs and provides operators with high-performance technologies that can help reduce carbon emissions and improve well integrity.<\/p>\n\n

Halliburton pumped more than 10,000 barrels of EnviraCem cement through numerous wells in the Permian Basin. With a 70 percent or more reduction in cement mass compared to conventional barriers, the system’s innovative design incorporates more locally sourced, natural and recycled materials. Reduced reliance on cement allows flexibility with industry supply chain challenges and offers a more sustainable barrier solution.<\/p>\n\n
