The operation, carried out through its subsidiary Rio Energy, reinforces its strategy to consolidate a diversified energy portfolio in Brazil.

Equinor boosts renewable energy in a key market

In this context, Brazil is positioned as one of Equinor’s priority markets for growth. The company already has a solid base in oil and gas, and is now accelerating its commitment to renewable energy to balance its energy portfolio.

The Esquina do Vento complex, which will feature 51 Vestas wind turbines, will add approximately 230 MW of installed capacity. It is estimated that it will be able to generate around 1 TWh annually, enough to supply more than 500,000 homes.

Integrated Energy Portfolio Strategy

Furthermore, this investment aligns with Equinor’s business model based on the integration of multiple technologies. The company combines wind and solar generation with power trading to optimize the performance of its assets.

Likewise, this approach helps reduce the intermittency of renewable energies, improve grid utilization, and increase the overall value of the energy portfolio in the country.

Growing Renewable Platform

The project’s development will be handled by Rio Energy, a subsidiary that acts as Equinor’s growth engine for onshore renewable energy in Brazil. This initiative joins other assets such as the Serra da Babilônia complex, which integrates wind and solar generation.

Together, these projects consolidate an operational platform that seeks to meet the growing demand for clean and competitive energy in the Brazilian market.

Trading and Value Chain

In addition, the energy produced will be managed by Danske Commodities, Equinor’s power trading company. This element completes the integrated value chain, from generation to sale in the electricity market.

In this way, Equinor strengthens its position as a relevant player in Brazil’s energy transition, combining traditional assets with renewable solutions.

Source and photo: Equinor

Equinor boosts its energy portfolio in Brazil with a new 230 MW wind complex ready for construction.

[13026,13046

post-347878","noticias","type-noticias","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","categoria_noticias-energy","categoria_noticias-wind-energy
["GET
