Grenergy has secured capacity contracts in the British Capacity Market’s T-4 auction, organized by the National Energy System Operator (NESO) and concluded on March 10, 2026. The four awarded projects (Scalm Park, Spring Lane, Buxton Road, and Fibden Farm) have a combined nominal power of 190 MW and a total storage capacity of 760 MWh. <\/p>\n\n
This implies a four-hour duration ratio per asset, a predominant configuration in long-cycle storage systems oriented toward the capacity market.<\/p>\n\n
This technological diversification is part of a deliberate strategy by Grenergy to maximize returns within the revenue structure, allowing hybrid assets to participate simultaneously in energy and capacity markets, while standalone assets specialize in high-availability grid services.<\/p>\n\n
The clearing price for the NESO T-4 auction was set at \u00a327.10\/kW\/year, a value that exactly matches the rate at which Grenergy secured its four contracts. This price represents a reduction of more than 55% compared to the clearing price of \u00a360\/kW\/year recorded in the previous T-4 edition. <\/p>\n\n
Grenergy managed to position itself within the efficient supply curve without needing to bid above the equilibrium price, demonstrating a competitive project cost structure compared to larger operators.<\/p>\n\n
The capacity contracts awarded by NESO constitute only one layer within the planned revenue structure for each of the four projects. In the business model for BESS assets in the British market, the Capacity Market acts as a guaranteed base income. <\/p>\n\n
Meanwhile, the profitability spread is built through participation in intraday energy markets, frequency services (FFR, DC, DM), and balancing markets under the National Grid ESO’s BM scheme.<\/p>\n\n
The integration of multiple revenue streams into a single asset follows the principle of optimizing the internal rate of return (IRR) by reducing market price risk.<\/p>\n\n
The four projects awarded in the UK are part of the expansion of Greenbox, Grenergy’s standalone storage platform presented at its Capital Markets Day in May 2025 in London.<\/p>\n\n
