Western Australia’s energy supply will receive a new boost following the agreement reached between Chevron Australia Pty Ltd and Horizon Power. Starting January 1, 2027, Chevron’s Australian subsidiary will provide approximately 14 petajoules of natural gas<\/a><\/strong> to supply regional communities and businesses. <\/p>\n\n

Chevron to supply gas to bolster regional supply<\/h2>\n\n

The contract will be valid for five years<\/strong> and will be supported by Chevron’s operational capacity at the Gorgon and Wheatstone facilities, and the North West Shelf<\/a><\/strong> project. These infrastructures, which are part of the company’s domestic portfolio, produce more than 40% of the gas consumed in Western Australia. <\/p>\n\n

According to Balaji Krishnamurthy, president of Chevron Australia, natural gas remains a critical component in the state’s energy mix. He highlighted its role in both baseload power generation<\/a><\/strong> and as support during interruptions of renewable sources, such as solar or wind, affected by weather variability. <\/p>\n\n

Chevron strengthens its local presence<\/h2>\n\n

State-owned Horizon Power is responsible for supplying energy to some of the country’s most remote areas. This new agreement with Chevron strengthens its capacity to offer a steady supply to homes and industries<\/strong>, reducing risks in scenarios of growing demand. <\/p>\n\n

With this alliance, Chevron consolidates its position as the leading gas<\/a> suppl<\/a>ier<\/a><\/strong> for power generation in the region. The commitment reaffirms its focus on the local market, complementing its export activities with a direct contribution to Western Australia’s energy development. <\/p>\n\n
