Saudi Aramco advances firmly in its gas sector growth strategy, with the start of production at Jafurah<\/strong>, the largest unconventional gas field in the Middle East, and the commissioning of the Tanajib gas processing plant<\/strong>, one of the world’s largest.<\/p>\n\n

Both projects are part of the oil company’s ambitious plan to increase its sales gas production capacity by 80% by 2030<\/strong>, compared to 2021 levels. <\/p>\n\n

Jafurah: The Core of Saudi Energy Transformation<\/h2>\n\n

The Jafurah field spans 17,000 km\u00b2<\/strong> and holds an estimated 229 trillion standard cubic feet of raw gas and 75 billion barrels of condensate. Its potential positions it as a strategic asset for both Aramco<\/strong> and the Saudi economy overall. <\/p>\n\n

Since December 2025, Aramco has begun shale gas production at Jafurah<\/strong>, leveraging advanced technology to reduce drilling costs and increase well efficiency. By 2030, the goal is to process 2 billion standard cubic feet of sales gas per day<\/strong>, along with 420 million cubic feet of ethane and 630,000 barrels of high-value liquids. <\/p>\n\n

This unconventional development aligns with the Kingdom’s plans to boost sectors such as energy, artificial intelligence<\/a><\/strong>, and the petrochemical industry.<\/p>\n\n

Tanajib: Pillar of Processing and Operational Efficiency<\/h2>\n\n

Meanwhile, the Tanajib gas plant<\/strong> has already begun operations and is expected to reach a processing capacity of 2,600 million standard cubic feet daily in 2026<\/strong>. Located on Saudi Arabia’s east coast, Tanajib processes associated gas from crude production at the offshore Marjan and Zuluf fields. <\/p>\n\n

Designed with a high level of digital integration and operational efficiency<\/a><\/strong>, Tanajib represents a key component in Aramco’s strategy to expand its energy portfolio and optimize resources<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

2030 Target: More Gas, More Value<\/h2>\n\n

Progress at Jafurah and Tanajib will enable Aramco to achieve total production of approximately 6 million barrels of oil equivalent per day from gas and associated liquids. This is estimated to generate between $12 billion and $15 billion annually in operating cash flows by 2030<\/strong>, depending on future demand and liquids pricing. <\/p>\n\n

The company also projects that this expansion will create thousands of direct and indirect jobs<\/strong>, driving local growth and reinforcing Saudi energy independence.<\/p>\n\n

Sustainability and Diversified Economy<\/h2>\n\n

Aramco’s gas strategy contributes to reducing the use of liquid fuels in power generation and supports the national goal of net-zero emissions by 2060<\/strong>. Additionally, it promotes a more sustainable energy mix and strengthens the Kingdom’s energy security. <\/p>\n\n

With these moves, production at Jafurah<\/strong> and the opening of the Tanajib plant<\/strong> position themselves as a key pillar of Saudi energy transformation, marking a new chapter in Aramco’s global leadership in the energy sector.<\/p>\n\n
