This facility has the capacity to manage up to 2 million tons per year (MTA) of CO₂, marking the beginning of an operational network aimed at transforming carbon-intensive industries.

The strategic deployment of carbon capture and storage

In addition to the agreement with CF Industries, ExxonMobil added AtmosClear and Lake Charles Methanol II, two companies also operating in Louisiana, to its portfolio. With these new contracts, the company secures a cumulative volume of approximately 9 MTA of CO₂ captured and managed. The expanded scope includes sectors such as power, methanol, steel, ammonia and natural gas processing.

The Gulf Coast is emerging as a hotspot for this technology, due to its high concentration of emitting industries and subway transportation infrastructure. ExxonMobil has identified this region as strategic for accelerating its low-carbon solutions business.

Looking ahead to 2026, the company plans to activate new CCS projects in Texas and continue expansion in Louisiana. Upcoming plans include the capture of emissions at the New Generation Gas Gathering(NG3) plant, as well as the start of operations with Linde and Nucor. All these steps seek to consolidate a replicable model for multiple industries.

Another relevant axis is technological diversification: ExxonMobil plans to make a final investment decision this year to develop its first low-carbon data center, fueled by natural gas and supported by CO₂ capture systems.

Far from being an emerging technology, CCS has been available for decades, but is now finding a more conducive environment for large-scale adoption. ExxonMobil has a long-term commitment to CCS as a viable tool for moving toward a lower-emissions industrial economy.

Source and photo: ExxonMobil

CAC projects have been available for decades, but are now at a more propitious time for large-scale adoption.

[13026,13044,13036

post-332101","noticias","type-noticias","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","categoria_noticias-energy","categoria_noticias-new-energies","categoria_noticias-oil-and-gas
["GET
