In a decisive legal step, Sunrise Wind LLC<\/strong>, a subsidiary of \u00d8rsted, filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to challenge the lease suspension order<\/strong> issued by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) on December 22, 2025.<\/p>\n\n

The legal action will be followed by a motion for injunctive relief seeking to reinstate the contractual rights of the Sunrise Wind project<\/a><\/strong>, currently in an advanced stage of construction. The company argues that the suspension violates existing law<\/strong> and jeopardizes the future of one of the most ambitious offshore wind energy initiatives on the U.S. East Coast. <\/p>\n\n
