W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 <\/strong>Group signed an agreement with Australia’s Flow Power<\/strong> to supply a 100 MW\/223 MWh battery system in Victoria. This development will be located next to the Morwell terminal station, will operate under the name Bennetts Creek and will contribute to improving the stability of the country’s power grid. <\/p>\n\n

Battery system integration for a smart grid <\/h2>\n\n

With this project, W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4<\/em> achieves its tenth storage tenth storage facility in Australia, consolidating<\/a><\/strong> in Australia, consolidating its role as a major player in supporting the National Electricity Market<\/strong>(NEM<\/em>). It is also the first time that W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 has collaborated with Flow Power<\/em>, a company focused on renewable energy solutions for industrial and commercial customers. <\/p>\n\n

Bennetts Creek will offer ancillary services such as frequency regulation and fast response, essential functions as conventional generators are removed from the system. These services provide ongoing revenue through mechanisms such as energy arbitrage. <\/p>\n\n

For its operation, the system will use W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4’s Quantum hardware<\/strong>, designed to maximize efficiency in small spaces. Management will be handled by GEMS software<\/strong>, which optimizes battery charging and discharging according to market conditions and grid requirements. <\/p>\n\n

The project will contribute to net-zero emissions targets by 2045 by strengthening the infrastructure that enables more renewable energy to be integrated into the system. According to Flow Power, the facility will also support new renewable developments in the state of Victoria. <\/p>\n\n

W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 will operate under an engineering equipment delivery contract<\/strong>(EEQ<\/em>), which includes a long-term service agreement aimed at guaranteeing the performance of the infrastructure. With this implementation, the company will exceed 6 GWh of installed capacity in the country. <\/p>\n\n
