The vessel, christened &#8220;<em>Smokey<\/em>,&#8221; represents a new phase in the nearly eight-decade partnership between Damen and Herman Senior, companies that share family roots and a common vision of innovation, quality and sustainability. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The MPV 4916 and its adaptable design<\/h2>\n\n<p>The Smokey was designed to operate in demanding offshore energy environments, integrating DP2 dynamic positioning capabilities, four-point mooring system and support poles. These features will allow it to operate with precision in complex offshore conditions. In addition, it will be equipped with a 45-ton capacity hydraulic A-frame and a winch with active wave compensation, which improves lifting maneuvers.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The MPV 4916 incorporates Damen Marine&#8217;s SCR<em>(Selective Catalytic Reduction<\/em>) system. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inspenet.com\/en\/news\/damen-and-chomex-marino-announce-new-generation-of-offshore-tugboats\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"306205\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system<\/a><\/strong>The MPV 4916 incorporates Damen Marine&#8217;s SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system, which reduces NOx emissions and meets IMO Tier III standards. In addition, its design contemplates a future conversion to electric or hybrid propulsion based on methanol, aligning with the environmental requirements of the international shipping industry. <\/p>\n\n<p>Smokey&#8217;s design complies with the SPS Code and the Maritime Labor Convention<em>(MLC<\/em>) 2006, and includes the <strong>COMF-3 notation<\/strong>, ensuring high standards of comfort and safety for up to 34 crew members. These elements make the vessel a versatile, safe and future-proof solution for the offshore market. <\/p>\n\n<p>During the ceremony, two coins were welded to the keel: a Dutch Rijksdaalder and an Emirati dirham, reflecting the link between the shipowner&#8217;s country of origin and the construction site.
